PET RESCUE CENTRE TALES

Welcome to the Pet Rescue Centre Tales!

This free show has a unique flavour of surreal humour that can be enjoyed by a range of ages.
The show focuses on a pet rescue centre where unusual pets are cared for. You will hear the favourite bed
time story for baby shopping trollies, what to feed your pet brick and the sad tale of a mistreated pet spoon
called Sam.

Pet Rescue Centre Tales is the creation of Paul Warricker. Paul was a semi-finalist in 2013 in the national ‘So
You Think You Are Funny’ competition and has performed widely across London and the South East,
including this year’s Brighton Fringe. Last year he took his own show to the Edinburgh Fringe for the first
time. His style of humour is intended to be non-offensive but remain entertaining to appeal to a wide
audience.

” I don’t know how you turn a conversation about spoons and rubber ducks into comedy gold but it’s
something special. Genuinely lovely guy too”
Purple Turkey Comedy, November 2014

Performed 16th-19th August at 5pm.

THIS IS A FREE SHOW!

Not recommended for under 14s.

HEY HEY 16K

A new two-man musical from the team behind ‘Dinosaur Planet’, ‘Moon Horse’ and ‘Total Hero Team’, featuring songs, Dad jokes, time travel, ZX Spectrums, Ada Lovelace, beer, tap dancing and Steve in the role of a lifetime: MJ Hibbett!

This is the duo’s fourth show, following on from Dinosaur Planet, Moon Horse VS The Mars Men Of Jupiter and Total Hero Team. Those were all science fiction extravaganzas, but this year’s show is based on a piece of Internet history. Back in 1999 International Rock Star MJ Hibbett had the bright idea of releasing his hymn to the ZX Spectrum, ‘Hey Hey 16K’, as the world’s first ever internet single. It was a firm favourite among computer geeks and indie fans, but it wasn’t until 2004 that it became a worldwide smash. Rob Manuel of b3ta.com created an animation for the song, turning it into one of the first ever viral videos, and it was downloaded over two million times in its first fortnight.

Now MJ has used the song as the basis for a musical in which he goes backwards in time to visit a teenage version of himself, played by Steve. It’s very much the role of a lifetime for Steve. As well as home computers, time travel and teenage memories, the show features advice on beer, a biography of Ada Lovelace, brand new songs, tap dancing, Dad jokes, and even a bit of hula hooping. All this and a free badge and CD too!

“You’re pretty much guaranteed to love this funny, inspiring show.” – Fringe Guru
“Both MJ and Steve were hilarious throughout” – Get Reading
“You feel you are included as old friends” – Buxton Festival Fringe Reviews

HARRY U ELDRICH/ALEX MARTINI: PASTA WITH KETCHUP

PASTA WITH KETCHUP:
or How We Learned To Stop Queueing And Love Bombs.
One is skinny, sharp, clean cut, suited and booted, misanthropic and probably destined for an early grave.
The other is Italian, fuller bodied, bearded, so dry he’s arid, and probably destined for an early grave.
They’re both Virgos apparently.
One loves his country so much he wants to live in Italy.
The other loves his country so much he’s lived in the UK for the past 7 years.
Like spaghetti and ketchup, they should not go together: but you know they naturally will.

Performing 9.30pm 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th

SAHAR MIRHADI: DAWN OF THE GEEK

Dawn of the Geek is a story of self acceptance, of passion meeting obsession, and of stereotypes dancing in a dazzling Anglo-Iranian beat. We learn how she dealt with the recurrence of being shunned for Nintendo, left for wrestling and lied to by Walt Disney. Expect treats and lots of love in this tale of discovery.

“Now this is someone whom I am confident we are going to be seeing a lot more of… Very engaging…will end up either a newspaper columnist or a TV show panellist or both” – Martin Mullaney, Comedy CV and Cheeky Monkey Club
